How it all started

It all started when Ross and I remodeled and designed our very first home together. Ross has done this numerous times, 22x to be exact, but this was my first experience. I decided to take on Instagram and document our transformation. From light fittings, to paint colours, to the garden, we got a small following of interior enthusiasts who were just as passionate about home designs as we are. 

I paused, gathered what I wanted to achieve and that is where The Trendy House shop was born. In 2023, we launched with a mission to provide beautiful, trendy pieces of furniture and home decor. The beauty of these products are that they are a once off, providing a unique item that you probably wont see in anyone else home.

About Karls 

Karla Muller is the founder of The Trendy House, leading the sourcing of the products, finances and creative direction. She is lover of beautiful products, traveling, wine and food. Here are 5 fun facts about Karla:

1. I’m Cape Town born and bred, the furthest I have moved is to Stellies where I went to University.
2. I love Christmas movies – I have been dreaming of a white Christmas for ages and can’t wait to take my daughter (when she is old enough) to have a European Christmas – hoping it’s just like the movies.
3. I love trying new restaurants and different types of wine. I consider myself a connoisseur and can’t be fooled into thinking a cab sav is a merlot. also have a massive sweet tooth — give me a bag of chuckles any day 
4. I love pets and animals and when I was small – all I wanted was to rescue all the animals from the SPCA. Currently only have 2 cats, I’m not sure I have capacity to train a pup just yet.
5. My ultimate pet peeve is hearing people chew – I can’t stand it, it really grinds my gears.
